    VDL’s new office at CityPoint, Bristol will handle world-wide sales of the VDL broadcast product range, plus European sales of broadcast test & measurement products from strategic partner SM-CNS (Seoul, Korea).
    VDL’s product range includes head-end encoders, multiplexers, as well as systems for pre-transmission and post-transmission recording, monitoring and analysis.

    New remote data Server for PAD
    The new PAD-Server® from VDL provides remote insertion of Programme Associated Data (PAD) directly to Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB and DAB+) Audio Encoders.
    For applications where the Audio Encoders are not co-located with the Ensemble Multiplexer, the PAD-Server can be used to
    minimise network traffic by eliminating the need to insert the data via the Multiplexer.

    New Product Brochures
    A number of updated brochures are now available from VDL, including VDL Corporate Profile; Product Range Summary; ETI and EDI Distribution products; DABSTOR and DABSTOR-Rx. Multiplexer, Audio Encoder and Video Encoder brochures have also been updated.

    DMB Visual Radio Encoder introduced
    VDL has introduced the latest version of its DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) Encoder for the imminent roll-out in France of terrestrial digital radio using the Eureka 147 (DAB) format.
    The D-EVIDENCE VR is the Visual Radio (also known as DMB Audio) version of the D-EVIDENCE DMB Encoder that is in widespread use for DMB Mobile TV over DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting).
    The new Visual Radio Encoder includes support for audio-only, audio with text, audio with low bit-rate images, plus interactivity using BIFS (Binary Information for Scene).

    VDL acquires broadcast products of Somerdata
    VDL S.A. (Lyon, France) has acquired the complete broadcast product range of Somerdata Ltd. (Wells, Somerset, UK) in 2009.                      
    Both Companies offer complimentary product ranges, which will now be brought together under the VDL brand.
    This acquisition further enhances VDL’s position as a leading total solution provider of end-to-end broadcast systems. The combined product range will cover head-end encoders, multiplexers, as well as systems for both pre-transmission and post-transmission Ensemble logging and monitoring.
    The SomerData product range provides monitoring, logging, recording, replay, analysis and signal routing products for DAB, DAB+ and DMB broadcasters, network operators and developers.
