This event illustrates the will of the Middle East countries of starting a cover of the DAB and thus of acquiring DAB/DMB equipment. Kuwait is one of the first countries of this area to have been interested in the digital radio and to have invested consequently. VDL already conquered Kuwait by providing a complete unit (audio encoders and multiplexers) to Kuwait Radio.

Yannick ANDRÉ-MASSE, CEO of VDL: « We are pleased with this contract recently signed in Kuwait. This first success is an opportunity for VDL which should enable the company to penetrate other markets in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates) ».

Other broadcasters from this area might follow the traces of the Kuwaitian precursor. Indeed a forthcoming interest of the Middle East countries for digital radio equipment is to be considered. VDL will be present with a complete range of equipment and adapted solutions DAB/DMB.
